Women's Aviation Day
The Old Dominion Rocketry Club proudly volunteers annually at Military Aviation Day, partnering with the Southeast Virginia Rocketry Association (SEVRA) to inspire young women to pursue STEM careers. Through hands-on activities and engaging discussions, we introduce participants to rocketry and aerospace concepts, sparking their excitement for STEM fields.
This event is a key part of our outreach efforts, empowering aspiring women to explore their passions and envision futures in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
STEM Festival - Tidewater Community College
The Old Dominion Rocketry Club was honored to participate in the STEM Festival at Tidewater Community College this year, partnering with the ODU Engineering Ambassadors to educate students and families about STEM-related fields and academic opportunities.
As part of the event, our club engaged attendees through interactive activities, showcasing the exciting possibilities within engineering and aerospace. A highlight of the festival was our participation in a panel discussion, where we had the opportunity to answer questions from eager students and parents, sharing insights into STEM careers, degrees, and our experiences in rocketry.
Aerospace Bootcamps
The Old Dominion Rocketry Club is dedicated to sparking a passion for aerospace and STEM in young learners. Through our Aerospace Bootcamps, elementary and middle school students explore the fundamentals of rocketry, including aerodynamics, propulsion, and flight stability, in a hands-on environment.
With guidance from our team, participants assembled low-power rockets and launched them at the Military Aviation Museum, experiencing the excitement of seeing their creations take flight. These workshops not only taught practical skills but also inspired curiosity and enthusiasm for aerospace and engineering careers.
ODU Center of Educational Innovation & Opportunity
The Old Dominion Rocketry Club is currently working with the ODU Center for Educational Innovation and Opportunity to enhance the regions new STEM Laboratories by introducing elementary, middle, and high school students to opportunities related to rocketry.
