OLD DOMINION ROCKETRY CLUB
ABOUT US
The Old Dominion Rocketry Club (ODRC) was founded in January 2023 by Brett Michal, John Burkholder, and Douglas Mason III with the mission of advancing aerospace and rocketry projects at Old Dominion University (ODU). Since its inception, the club has grown into a dynamic team with many members achieving high-power rocketry certifications. ODRC is dedicated to educating students and is actively pursuing the opportunity to compete in the Spaceport America Cup 2025, with the goal of being the first ODU rocketry club to represent the university on the international stage. In pursuit of this goal, ODRC has been focused on developing its 10K COTS rocket, aptly named Reign, for the upcoming challenge.
GOALS & OBJECTIVES
The Old Dominion Rocketry Club focuses primarily on educating students in high-power rocketry, guiding them towards achieving HPR certifications. We encourage connections between students, like-minded peers, and industry professionals, through regular meetings, student led projects, and guest speaker opportunities. The club actively seeks to participate in rocketry competitions to broaden future opportunities for the club. ODRC is also committed to advancing aerospace and rocketry at ODU by building and launching rockets that emphasize on innovation, practical application, and the integration of cutting-edge technology.
